OK, I figured it out. Enjoy! Totally customizable -- just open up the .kxl in a text editor and you'll figure it out. Now you can have your own hierarchical keyboard-controlled menu of functions.

I don't know how to *replace* the CADKEY Classic Menu with this, so it's in-addition-to not instead-of. I just set the hotkey to activate this KXL to ` which is right next to the F-keys so it's fast. So, you'll have two different hierarchies: the Classic (drawing lines, editing, transforming,...), and the Solids (3D primitives, extrusions, boolean ops,...). For example, F1>F1>F1 to create a line in the Classic menu, F1>F1>F1 to create a block in the Solids menu.

This version works for KeyCreator 7 through maybe 13? In 15 and I think 14 too, they add multi-profile sweep and that takes over the function code for pipe sweep, so to use it for those more recent versions of KeyCreator you'll have to just modify the codes to be correct.

Hi All,

You guys at Geometric are the experts on customizing CADKEY, so I was wondering if any of you had any idea how to customize the Classic CADKEY menu, the menu that's controlled by the function keys.

I made this topic before, but it was deleted, maybe in error? Please let me know!

We have two floating/network licenses of KeyCreator 2016. How is KXL Creator licensed?

Evanags,
Use the following in your note:
|108%d/%m/%y|108

This will get you a simple day/month/year you can move the %d or %m any where you want just keep it in the |108's

I am setting up my drawing format. I wish to have a brief date stamp of when original file was created. Under Create Note - Fields tab - File Properties - Created at (delimiter) I get |108. I create note as |108|108 and I get the date stamp of original file creation, good. But it displays as ( Sunday, February 07, 2016 3:29:18 PM Eastern Standard Time ) Is there a way to abbreviate it to just the date 00/00/00? I am not very clever at KXL so any help would be great.

Welcome aboard.
Most of the users here are users of older versions of CadKey or KeyCreator so keep that in mind when posting.
Since the official forum boots people out if they don’t have or keep up the maintenance we get the questions that are almost always old bugs and how to work around them.
All are welcome and we don’t put anyone on a mass emailing list, just true help from old users.

Nigel,
I have never seen that behavior out of the KC keyboard commands... any version... only suggestion: Double check your windows settings... this may not be a KC issue.

if it is still an issue seeing as it is a 2013 issue

Hi
In Keycreator 3, I have a problem when trying to use any key on the keyboard to bring up the create-line menu.
Any key assigned to this command re-sizes the Keycreator window.
If I reduce the size of the window to half the screen an then hit the key, the window maximises to fill the screen.
If I hit the key assigned to the create-line menu when the window is maximised, I get a flash of the window being reduced and then the window returns to maximised.
I know this is some years late, but I have been using 19 until now although I have had Keycreator since it came out.
Any keyboard file that I try does the same thing.
I have the 3.02 update in place.
Any ideas as to what is going on?
Thanks
Nigel

I've been using Some form of Kubotek since Cadkey 3.1 but I've never been able to figure out how to write a good KXL.
I'm currently using KC 6.5, and translation from layout mode to .dwg is never good enough unless I follow the steps listed below;

Autoscale the layout
burst the layout
Export to DWG (ACAD 200) using the preset export options
(make the file name of the exported file the same as the Layout title)
undo (to reverse the burst operation)
end

Can anyone help with this macro?

I'm using KC6.5 and if I export from a layout to .dwg and get good repeatable results I have to;
burst the layout
export to .dwg
type a file name
escape
when back at KC6.5, undo the burst operation to retain associativity

I've tried creating a KXL to do this but it gets stuck after bursting the layout.
(see attached KXL file)

Can anyone help me with this?

DXF was originally introduced in December 1982 as part of AutoCAD 1.0, and was intended to provide an exact representation of the data in the AutoCAD native file format, DWG (Drawing), for which Autodesk for many years did not publish specifications.

I want to be able to import old cadkey ptns multiple times but when I build a KXL file it kicks out and won't let me import them.

This is the code from the old macro CDL file that we used. I would be able to open the PTN then place like a 2D pattern and keep putting it in until I escaped out of the command. I have a bunch but once I get the first one done I can do the rest.

uMACSTART

dFILE 0, `C:/CADKEY98/Ptn/`, `38bolt.ptn`, `C:/CADKEY98/Ptn/38bolt.ptn`
dYESNO 13, 0
eMENU 2305, 1
eDBL1 519, 1.000000
eDBL1 519, 0.000000
ePOS 2306, 2305, -999, 7.553585, 8.920721, 0.000000
rIMPPTN

uMACEND
